The reporter learned from the Zhejiang Provincial Government on the 19th that the province will vigorously promote the construction of an environmental monitoring and monitoring guarantee system, and it will take about five years to build an automatic monitoring station for drinking water quality above the county level.

According to the Zhejiang Provincial Government's plan, the construction of a water quality biological (safety) early warning monitoring system and a water supply reservoir water quality monitoring system in important water environment function areas will be strengthened to strengthen the protection of rural drinking water sources. By 2012, build 81 automatic monitoring stations for drinking water source water quality at or above the county level. By 2015, complete automatic water quality monitoring stations for drinking water sources above the county level, county (city) transfer sections and important sensitive water areas, as well as a network of groundwater monitoring stations for Hangzhou-Jiaxing-Huzhou, Ningbo, Wenhuang, Wenrui Plain and Jinqu Basin, and establish a whole province Water and soil conservation monitoring, water quality monitoring in water function zones, groundwater resources monitoring network and information system.

At the same time, strengthen the protection of drinking water source areas, divide water source protection areas for Taihu Lake, Hangzhou-Jiaxing Lake water network, Qiantang River trunk and tributaries, Oujiang River and small and medium-sized lakes and reservoirs, and improve the classification management system of drinking water source protection areas. Strengthen the water pollution control and water quality protection of water transmission channels such as Taihu Lake in northern Zhejiang and water diversion from East Zhejiang. Strengthen the protection of groundwater resources, curb groundwater overexploitation, and effectively prevent ground subsidence and seawater inversion.

In recent years, Zhejiang Province has attached great importance to the safety of drinking water, especially rural drinking water. Since 2003, the province has taken the lead in launching the construction of rural drinking water projects in the country. Statistics from the Zhejiang Provincial Water Resources Department show that up to now, the province's rural tap water coverage rate has reached 95.8%, laying a solid foundation for ensuring the quality of rural drinking water and improving the water quality sanitation qualification rate.

While actively protecting water quality, Zhejiang Province has also vigorously promoted the construction of urban sewage treatment plants. The provincial government plans to add more than 4,000 kilometers of urban sewage supporting pipeline network by 2015, and all the qualified organic towns in the province have completed sewage treatment facilities, and the sewage treatment rate of cities above the county seat will reach 83%.
